Vietnam Temporary Residence Card Services

Justix helps foreign nationals, employers and family sponsors assess eligibility and prepare temporary residence card applications for employment, investment or family circumstances. We start with the current documents, lawful stay and sponsorship basis to identify the appropriate next steps.

Who this service is for

  • Foreign employees and employers coordinating work authorisation with residence planning in Vietnam.
  • Investors assessing a residence category against their actual investment and capital documentation.
  • Spouses and family members needing a review of family eligibility and the proposed sponsor.
  • Applicants with expiring cards, new passports or changes in employment or sponsorship.
  • HR teams managing residence documentation for foreign personnel and their families.

What Justix does for you

  • 01

Review entry documents, current lawful stay, passport and the proposed basis to identify an available route.

  • 02

Assess the sponsor and employment, investment or family evidence relevant to that route.

  • 03

Identify missing documents, original-document requirements, translations and authentication as applicable.

  • 04

Prepare the agreed forms, guide signing and support procedures within the permitted and authorised scope, including responses to document requests.

  • 05

Check the outcome and explain dates to monitor, temporary residence reporting and changes requiring further assessment.

What you receive

  • A proposed application route and outstanding issues to resolve.
  • A category-specific checklist identifying responsibilities and document-form requirements.
  • Draft requests, declarations and signing instructions within the engagement.
  • Filing information, authority responses and the card if issued within the agreed scope.
  • Handover guidance covering relevant dates and changes to passport, employment or sponsorship.

How it works

  1. 1

    Assess current status

Review nationality, passport, entry documents, current permission to stay and the intended purpose of residence.

  2. 2

    Identify the category and sponsor

Assess the employment, investment or family basis and the proposed sponsoring party.

  3. 3

    Agree the document plan

Identify preliminary work, missing evidence, the indicative timetable and fees.

  4. 4

    Prepare the file

Draft forms, guide signatures and arrange any required originals with a record of handover.

  5. 5

    Support the procedure

Coordinate the application and responses within the agreed engagement.

  6. 6

    Check and hand over

Review the card details and validity, explain follow-up obligations and identify changes requiring reassessment.

What you need to prepare

  • Passport, visa or entry records, current permission to stay or residence card, and accommodation reporting information.
  • Sponsor documents and employment, investment or family evidence relevant to the selected category.
  • Application forms, photographs and representative documents, with translations, certification or authentication where required. The final checklist is agreed before originals are handed over.

Timeline

An indicative 7–15 working days, depending on the agreed scope and document readiness.

The overall service estimate differs from the authority’s consideration period for a complete file. Preliminary work concerning residence status, passports, sponsorship or overseas documents may require additional time. Sending documents to Justix or preparing an application does not extend existing permission to stay.

Fees

Indicative professional fee: VND 5,000,000–10,000,000. The formal proposal defines the route and tasks. Taxes, official card fees, courier charges, translations, authentication and preliminary procedures must be identified as included or separately payable.

How our fees work

Plan residence around the available basis, not just the desired length of stay

A foreign national may have accepted a job, invested in a business or moved to join family in Vietnam without knowing which residence route is available. Questions often emerge when supporting documents are expiring, a passport needs replacement or the sponsoring party changes. Preparing the card application form alone will not resolve those preliminary issues.

Justix reviews entry documentation, the current permission to stay and the proposed residence basis together. The aim is to identify what can proceed, what needs to be resolved first and how the applicant should coordinate with the employer or family sponsor.

Different applicants need different evidence

Employees and their employers

Work documents should be reviewed alongside residence records and sponsorship information. An expiring work authorisation or a planned change of employer may affect the sequence of tasks. HR teams should track supporting documents as well as the residence card’s own expiry date.

Investors

The investment basis needs suitable evidence. Company registration alone does not answer every question about the residence category. We assess the documents available and distinguish investment, permission to work and permission to reside. Capital commitments should reflect the actual investment plan rather than an unverified promise of a residence card.

Spouses and family members

Family cases require a review of the relationship, the sponsor and each applicant’s evidence. Overseas marriage or birth documents may need preparation for use in Vietnam. Reviewing scans before translation, authentication and shipment of originals can help identify inconsistencies early.

Maximum validity is not a promise for every application

Card validity depends on the category and the case. Vietnamese law also requires a card to expire at least 30 days before the remaining passport validity ends. The category maximum therefore should not be treated as the duration every applicant will receive. Review the passport and supporting documents before planning the family’s stay.

If current permission is close to expiry, the immediate priority is to assess existing status and the available next steps. Sending documents to a lawyer, arranging an appointment or preparing a file does not extend lawful stay. We explain the route based on the information provided rather than promising an in-country change for every situation.

Reassess when employment or sponsorship changes

A card may show a future expiry date while its sponsorship basis has changed. Before leaving a job, joining a new company, replacing a passport or changing relevant circumstances, seek an assessment of the required actions. Waiting until the next card application can make travel and residence planning more difficult.

For employers with several foreign staff, a shared register of passports, work documents, residence cards and dependants can support coordination. Justix provides handover guidance for the instructed case; ongoing monitoring across the workforce requires a separately agreed engagement.

A clear scope from document review to handover

Justix reviews the evidence, identifies missing items, prepares agreed documents and coordinates the procedure. The proposal should make clear what the sponsor must do, which signatures or originals are needed and which external costs are additional. When a result is available, the information and dates should be checked before handover.

For an initial discussion, tell us your nationality, intended residence purpose, current document expiry dates and proposed sponsor. Send identity records only through an agreed intake channel. Contact Justix: +84 372 717 888 or info@justix.vn.

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone already in Vietnam apply for a residence card?

An eligible category, appropriate entry and residence status, and a suitable sponsorship basis must be established. Renting a home or wanting a longer stay is not sufficient by itself.

Will a work permit guarantee a two-year card?

No. Validity requires assessment against the card category, passport and supporting documents. A statutory maximum is not a guaranteed outcome.

Does owning a Vietnamese company qualify me for an investor card?

The relevant investment category, capital evidence and other conditions need review. A name on company registration records does not establish every residence requirement.

Can I change from an e-visa to a residence card?

The conditions for changing purpose, the proposed basis and current status must be assessed. We do not promise an in-country conversion for every e-visa holder.

Can I keep using my card after changing employers?

The previous sponsorship basis, each party’s responsibilities and the next route require review. Assess the position before changing employment rather than relying only on the printed expiry date.

Does a residence card replace accommodation reporting?

No. Temporary residence reporting at the place of accommodation remains a separate obligation under the applicable rules.

Can you review my documents remotely?

An initial assessment can use information and scans through an agreed channel. Original documents, signatures, attendance and filing arrangements are checked separately; the entire procedure is not assumed to be online.

Will my spouse and children receive the same status as me?

Family applications require their own assessment of relationship evidence, sponsorship and individual eligibility. Preparation can be coordinated, but the same category or validity should not be assumed for the whole family.
